Windyway Trust was formed as a Charity in February 2005. A group of us were asked to form a charity to support the rescue and rehoming of animals at Windyway Animal Sanctuary in Macclesfield. In the years that followed we have gained a band of volunteers who turn up to help at events, run our shop, sort donations in the evenings and generally support all our fundraising efforts.
Before taking on a rescue animal make sure it is the right decision for you and consider the care and cost your new pet requires.
Research the cost of training classes, vaccinations, kennelling, insurance etc and make sure you can commit to these expenses for the lifetime of any animal.
All our animals are vet checked and neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. If you adopt an animal mid vaccination the second dose is included in your adoption fee as long as you go back to our Vet in Bollington or Tytherington to have it done.
We will tell you everything we know about the animal’s history so that you can have a good idea of whether you will be able to meet its needs and whether it will fit in with your family and lifestyle.
Anyone thinking of adopting an animal is advised to telephone before visiting to find out whether we have any dogs/ cats/ rabbits suiting your requirements and whose needs you can meet. You then visit during our opening hours to meet possible matches and if you find one you would like to adopt you can spend a bit of time getting to know him or her. Please come suitably attired for walking a dog in grass if you are hoping to adopt a dog.
The next step will be a home visit to make sure that we are happy that you can provide the right environment for your chosen pet. If you live in rented accommodation we will need proof that your tenancy agreement gives permission, so please don’t use up our time, resources and emotions by starting a process you can’t follow through. At this point you will fill in and sign an adoption application where you commit to meeting the needs of the animal, having it neutered if you are taking a youngster and, very importantly, not to pass him or her on to any third party.
If all goes well and your home is approved you can adopt the animal.
Our adoption fees are as follows;
Dog – £120.00
Cat/Vaccinated Kitten – £50.00
Kitten (pre vaccination only) – £30.00
Rabbit/ Guinnea Pig – £25.00
