Rocky Road Rescue is dedicated to rescuing Romanian dogs and cats from the desperate situations many find themselves in. We concentrate on a few animals at a time and if needed, a small number of our dogs and cats go into a foster home in the U.K. prior to adoption.

Rocky Road Rescue – Rehoming Our Dogs
All dogs are fully vaccinated and if aged over 9 months and under 8 years, they will be neutered. We fully comply with DEFRA requirements. The dogs travel by road in purpose built vans, all fitted with the latest aircon, trackers and cameras. Each van has two drivers and a pet carer.
We do ask that applicants are over 21 years and we generally only rehome dogs to families with children over the age of 12 years, although we can make expections if the circumstances are right. If we have been able to child test a dog, then it will state on their album. Cats can be rehomed with families and children aged 3+. An adoption fee of £475 for all dogs up to the age of 7, £250 for 7 and over and all cats £295 and successful home check are mandatory.

Rocky Road Rescue – Spay Campaign
Rehoming is helping but not solving the problem which is why we run a spay campaign.
Did you know that just ONE unspayed female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in just SIX YEARS. These babies overrun the streets in Romania are starving, abused and neglected. Dog catchers remove them from the street and put them into kill shelters. These shelters are overcrowded. It’s survival of the fittest with dogs competing for food, living in their own feaces or hosed down when the maggots start to grow. The dogs are petrified, mistreated and as much as we try our best to save them and bring them to the UK. We must open our eyes to the underlying problem and do part to contribute to the over breeding that is happening. It’s no life for a dog to be born, mistreated and then murdered just because people can’t afford to spay them.
And that’s where we come in – just £30 will allow us to spay one female.. £30 is all it takes to save the lives of thousands!! In 2024 we managed to get around 100 dogs spayed and this year we want to increase this so please help us make a difference if you can. Find out more >
