UK Spaniel rescue was founded on 22nd October, 2024, by a group of like-minded individuals to offer a no-frills way of educating Spaniel owners on best practice to help them communicate with their dogs, to aid in the rehabilitation of dogs whose owners are struggling but don’t want to give up on them and to collaborate with other like-minded professionals in achieving the best possible outcomes for all involved. On 19th February 2025, we gained official registered charity status.
We are a foster-based rescue run entirely by volunteers. We take in dogs for rehoming mainly from owners who, for one reason or another, are no longer able to keep their dog. We are not here to judge, simply to help wherever we can, be that through advice from our qualified behaviour team, helping to find temporary foster, or rehoming. All our dogs come with full rescue backup.
UK Spaniel Rescue – Adoption Process
When you apply to adopt a Spaniel from UK Spaniel Rescue, we will do everything within our power to get the perfect match although we do ask that you bear with us as this is not an overnight process. Consideration will be given to the applicant that can offer the Spaniel the best home for his/her needs.
We will consider all applications as they come in but please be aware that if you apply for a particular dog, we can’t guarantee your application will be successful. If we advertise a dog that has to go to an adult only home, please don’t apply if you have children. There is always a reason that rescues have stipulations and this will always be for the welfare of both the dog and the family. We do prefer that applicants have experience with their chosen breed but this is not always necessary.
We have all ages of Spaniels dogs in our care, with wide ranging needs from a whole host of backgrounds, each with its own personality and story to tell.
Once you’ve found your potential new best friend, click on the Adoption Form link at the bottom of the page giving as much information as possible. We do ask you to be open and honest on your form to ensure we get the right match for everyone. You will be allocated your own Adoption Co-Ordinator and behaviourist. We will then contact you to discuss your application, than all being well, we will ask one of our volunteers to pop round for a quick home visit.
We will also need to arrange two ‘meet and greet’ sessions where we ask you to bring all the members of your immediate family and any dogs you have. We do not have the facilities to cat test our Spaniels and will always err on the side of caution if the dog hasn’t lived with cats before.
Should all go well, we will arrange a day and time for your new family member to join you and once the adoption form and fee have been received we will transfer the microchip into your name. All adoptions are subject to a non-refundable adoption donation
UK Spaniel Rescue – Post Adoption
All our dogs come with full rescue backup meaning you have the support of our behaviourist team whenever you need it. We will also add you to our private Adopters/Fosters Facebook Group where there will be videos and literature to help you care for your new family member should you need it. It would be very much appreciated if you could provide a brief write up and some pictures for our Wagging Tales happy endings stories. Everybody loves a happy ending.
