Dogue De Bordeaux Rescue UK
Unfortunately the one specific Dogue De Bordeaux Rescue UK, the Dogue De Bordeaux Welfare charity, had to close its doors to taking on any new dogs.
They put out the following message:
Unfortunately, after trying everything we can and seeking alternative help, we have today made the hardest decision ever that we need to close our doors.
This isn’t a decision we’ve rushed into or taken lightly; we’ve had many conversations as a team over the last few months. As everyone is aware the Rescue world is currently in crisis, including us, so many dogs, so little space. We’ve been struggling for a while now with a lack of knowledgeable fosters. And we now just don’t have enough options to carry on.
Rescue is an extremely hard and stressful labour of love, it really does take over your life, BUT it’s hugely rewarding seeing the lives we’ve changed for the better. But things have become so much harder over the last few years,
and it’s just not changing. So we’d like to thank everybody for their amazing support in the 22 years we’ve been running we’ve saved 100s of dogues with your help, but we just feel that if we can’t do this properly and safely for the dogues, then we just can’t do this at all
.
We’ll still be here as we have 15 Forever fosters under our care, but we won’t be taking in any new dogs.
But from the Team at DDB WELFARE, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we could never have achieved this if it wasn’t for you and the amazing support we’ve received. We truly have been blessed over the years. We’ve met some amazing people and made some lifelong friends.
Sadly, this is a reflection of the pressures many dog rescues in the UKL face and why we need to do as much as we can to support them all.
Dogue De Bordeaux
The Dogue De Bordeaux is a big, wrinkly French powerhouse but a gentle giant. They are calm, loyal, deeply attached to their people. They have a massive head, serious face, soulful eyes and are built like a tank but secretly a cuddle bug.
Protective without being aggressive they are usually quiet, observant, and confident. They are extremely devoted to the whole household but often picks one favourite human. They are generally great with kids … patient and tolerant … but supervision is key because they’re strong.
They have moderate energy levels and enjoy walks and play, then happily become a couch ornament.
The Dogue De Bordeaux is smart but stubborn. They respond best to calm, consistent, positive training (no harsh stuff).
One thing to be aware of is the drool factor … elite-level drool. Keep towels handy and run for cover when they shake their heads!
To summarise the Dogue De Bordeaux … “I will protect this house with my life… but di you mind if I nap on your feet first?” We think that says it all !!!
Dogue De Bordeaux Rescue UK – Where To Rescue
Following the sad closure of the Dogue De Bordeaux Welfare UK there is no breed specific rescue which means that you’re going to need to search across the UK dog rescues to find your new giant best friend … sadly there’s usually plenty of options.
That said the Dogue De Bordeaux Welfare Facebook Page is still active at the moment so you may want to keep an eye on this too.
Good luck with your search for Dogue De Bordeaux Rescue UK – if we can help in any way feel free to get in touch.
