Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS)
PADS dog rescue Perth is a well-loved, long established local dog rescue charity with kennels at Forteviot, a few miles south-west of Perth, Scotland. Our aim is to provide care and shelter for the county’s unwanted dogs and to find them new loving homes.
We do our best for all dogs who come into our care, from the smallest Yorkie to the biggest Mastiff. We help neglected, abused, hungry and sick dogs.
We will try to rehabilitate terrified, lonely or lost dogs and give love to them all, in the hope that they find new lives with people who care.
PADS Dog Rescue Perth
Our staff are experts and we have been rehoming dogs for many years so we’ll do our best to find you the right canine companion.
Our website is updated as often as possible so that you can see our current dogs looking for a home. But many of our dogs don’t make it onto our website as we have homes waiting. So, if you’re ready to adopt a dog, please complete and return an adoption application form telling us what you’re looking for so we can get in touch with you if we have a dog arrive we think you’ll be interested in.
Our kennels are open seven days a week.but by appointment only so please contact us first.
Adopting A Dog From PADS Dog Rescue Perth
We will do our best to find the right dog for you – and the right human for each dog!
At PADS dog rescue Perth our staff are experts at this, for they have been rehoming dogs for many years. Young families may want a younger dog, while older folk may be happy with a middle aged dog with lots of love still to give. A cute cuddly pup may seem like the ideal choice, but the staff will know if that little pup is likely to grow into a very large dog so take their advice.
Hardest to home are older dogs, who may have come from a loving home where their owners are now no longer able to care for them. An older dog has much to give and in taking on such a dog you have the satisfaction of knowing that you are giving a good home to a dog for the last part of its life.
Some dogs will come with ‘problems’, however, these problem behaviours can be managed and even overcome with the right person. Some dogs don’t get on well with other dogs, some dogs are terrified of children, some dogs have separation anxiety, some dogs would perhaps harm small furry creatures – but this doesn’t make them bad dogs.
These ‘problems’ can be breed specific or indeed they can be a result of their early years. Please don’t overlook a dog because it doesn’t tick every box! The love you get in return by far outweighs the ‘problems’.
PADS Rehoming Process
All adopters must complete and return our adoption application form.
If our staff think you and your chosen dog are a suitable match, you will be invited to meet the dog here at our kennels.
Although it is impossible to know the full background of every dog who comes to us, they are all assessed and are, to the best of our knowledge, able to join a household. You will be told of any problems you may have to overcome with your new dog.
You will be charged a fee of £210.00 for the dog, this is inclusive of neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, worming and flea treatment.
After a few weeks, a PADS after care visitor will contact you and come along to check that both human and dog are happy together.
