When it comes to dog rescue Birmingham the Birmingham Dogs Home has been at the forefront since being founded way back in 1892 in New Canal Street in the very heart of Birmingham.
Sadly this iconic building was destroyed in a fire in 2014 but, from the ashes, rose a brand new Birmingham Dogs Home with not one but two new separate dog rescues situated in opposite areas of the Greater Birmingham area.

Dog Rescue Birmingham – The Dogs And Adoption Process
Birmingham Dogs Home has been rescuing, reuniting and rehoming dogs for almost 130 years. The charity cares 24 hours a day, every day of the year for stray, abandoned and relinquished dogs from across Birmingham, the West Midlands and South Staffordshire.
They work with nine local authorities across the Midlands who trust us to deliver the best possible care to over 2,000 dogs every year at our rescue centres near Solihull and Wolverhampton. As one of the region’s oldest and best loved charities they are committed to lead the way for animal welfare in the Midlands, providing the very best level of care for every dog that needs us and support and advice to their adopters and future families.
To start the dog rescue adoption process simply browse through the dog profiles online or visit one of the centres during our opening hours, to see dogs that are currently available for adoption. Meet The Dogs >
Check to see if they are suitable for your family and life-style and read about their character, needs and medical history.
If you are interested in finding out more about one of our dogs you should then complete the online adoption enquiry form (you must be 18 or over to apply). If you are visiting in person, you will be asked to complete an adoption enquiry form before looking around the kennels.
If you do not wish to complete an online application, and are unable to visit, you can also call the rehoming team and they will complete an adoption enquiry with you over the phone.
The experienced rehoming team will look at every application and make the best match to suit each dog.
If your application is successful you will be asked to make a payment of between £220 and £400 before you adopt your Birmingham Dogs Home dog. This payment goes a little way towards the cost of the care whilst at the Birmingham dog rescue and of these funds are used to help run the charity and enable them to help more dogs in need of our care.
