Please read the advert carefully and only apply if you fit the criteria for Dakota. Please send details of your dog experience and if you have an understanding of HPR breeds, home and location, make up of your family, training ability, work commitments. Dakota is currently in foster in Norfolk, a village just outside of Kings Lyn, you must be prepared to travel to visit him and to have a home check, be willing to abide by the rescues rules and guidance. He can be homed in other parts of the UK for the right home / family.
Dakota is a super dog, gentle and kind with people and other dogs, he is not cat tested. This boy loves nothing more than to curl up on your lap for a cuddle, he is very affectionate and loves people. He is currently in a wonderful foster home in Norfolk, not far from Sandringham, his foster Mum and her children adore him, he sleeps on her bed at night and curls up on the sofa with the family when watching TV. We are looking for a home that has the same ethos as his foster, a home where he will be a much loved member of the family.
Dakota is a big boy, he loves to play and is quite active, as with all GSP he needs a good amount of physical exercise, but also he needs mental stimulation as he is not only a working breed, but is an ex working dog that was deemed not to be up to par for his hunter and sadly thrown out to die on the streets. Since his rescue he has shown himself to be an absolute gent of a dog.
We feel an understanding of the breed and experience with GSP would be preferable, confidence with training using only positive reward methods is preferable. He will make a wonderful companion for the right home. No very young children as he is big and bouncy and probably no cats would be best
Dakota was abandoned on the streets of Serbia by his hunter owner, deemed not to have been up to standard for a working dog, most probably gun shy. He found himself caught by local dog catchers and taken to a kill shelter where he would have ended up dying, we were alerted to him and took him out and our team cared for him in our pension.
We are looking for a rural or semi rural pet home (No working dog homes please) where he will be part of the family, a home that he will not be left home alone for extended hours. A home that is active and enjoys the outside life.
He is fully health checked, vaccinated, titer tested and neutered, Dakota is currently in the Norfolk area, but can travel for the right home. Home checks apply and adherence to our rescues rules and guidance.
